Description
A beautiful Inca Coquero Portrait vessel from Peru, c. 1300 – 1500 AD. This intricately detailed example is 7-3/4” high and depicts a member of the elite. His coif is beautifully braided and is topped with a woven cap that has a variety of geometric designs. The facial features are nicely detailed, with a wad of coca leaves bulging out the right cheek. Highly burnished, strong mineral deposits, small loss to rim. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range: $650 - $800
