A lot of 6 Roman lead tokens and bulla, c. 1st - 3rd Century AD. Group includes five Roman lead tokens, each with one side stamped with devices including a seated figure (Homer?) on rocks, a goddess, the god Telesphoros, two standing male figures (The Dioscuri?) and a cruciform design with pellets in the four quadrants. The bulla features a male head in profile, the backside roughly domed with cord hole. Sizes from 14 to 19mm in diameter. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value Range $150 - $250.The Roman lead tokens probably served a variety of functions such as entrance tokens to theaters or other events, banking counters or even gaming pieces, both public and private.The bulla was used to seal a bag, box, door or similar by stamping hot lead with a seal, often tied with cord.
