Description
Sasanian Kingdom. Ardashir I. A.D. 223/4-240. AR drachm (26 mm, 4.18 g, 4 h). Mint C ("Ctesiphon"), ca. A.D. 233/4-238/9. Diademed bust of Ardashir I right, wearing close-fitting headdress lacking earflaps and with korymbos; behind head, three pellets / Fire altar with diadems; no attendants. Göbl type III/2. Lightly toned, minor porosity on reverse. Nearly extremely fine.
