Sasanian Kingdom. Ardashir I. A.D. 223/4-240. AR drachm (27 mm, 4.34 g, 9 h). Mint C ("Ctesiphon"), ca. A.D. 233/4-238/9. Diademed bust of Ardashir I right, wearing close-fitting headdress lacking earflaps and with korymbos; behind head, three pellets / Fire altar with diadems; no attendants. Göbl type III/2. Lightly toned. Nearly extremely fine.
