It was the Syrian legate, Mucianus, who urged Vespasian to declare for the throne in aftermath of Nero's suicide and the succession of ephemeral emperors in Rome. Here however, before Vespasian's bid, he struck coins in Galba's name. Later he lead Vespasian's troops, and according to Josephus was instrumental in the assassination of Vitellius in Rome.
