Description
Phoenicia, Tyre. 126 B.C.-A.D 65 AR shekel (24 mm, 13.25 g, 1 h). Uncertain date (ca. 18/7 B.C.-A.D. 65). Laureate bust of Melkart right / [TYPIOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣY]ΛOY, eagle standing left on prow, palm on right wing; date (illegible) above club to left, KP(?) to right, Phoenician letter between legs. Cf. RPC I 4640-80. Toned. Lamination flaw on reverse, eroded surfaces. Fine.
