Description
Iron Ballista Head. Byzantine, X-XIV Century AD. Iron ballista head with leaf shaped blade and long tang; flat to bottom side. The ballista was a large mounted crossbow typically used for sieges on on ship; it fired a small javelin. Stabilized brown rust patina, minor ships, bend to tip.
