Description
Illyria, Dyrrhachion. 2nd-1st centuries B.C. AR drachm (18 mm, 2.93 g, 2 h). Contemporary imitation. Phixatas, magistrate. Cow standing right, looking back at suckling calf standing left below; above, head of Hermes right, wearing petasos, and magistrate's name: ΦΙΧΑΤΑΣ; in right field, trophy(?) / PVP ΩZ VΛ PVO, double stellate pattern within double linear square. Meta -; Ceka -; Meier -. Toned. Old scrape on cow. Crude and unusual. Very fine.
