Description
Lucania, Velia. Ca. 300-280 B.C. AR nomos (21 mm, 7.26 g, 11 h). Head of Athena right wearing wreathed Attic helmet decorated with a wing; behind neck flap, ΔΗ monogram; below chin, Φ / ΥΕΛΗΤΩ[N], lion walking right; above, grain ear between Φ and Ι; below, Π. Williams 471 (O236/R332); HN Italy 1309. Lightly toned. Light rub in obverse field before face. Nearly very fine.
