Description
A choice Chimu feline head bottle from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. This fine blackware example is 7-1/2” high and depicts an unusual feline head. The large round eyes are more typically seen on shamanic transformation figures, so perhaps this was meant to represent a shaman transformed into his spirit animal. In perfect condition, with extensive burial deposits. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range: $450 - $600
