Description

A lot of 2 Roman ceramic lamps. The first is a large example, the body round with sharp carination, raised molding around a plain disk and sloping shoulders. The spout is short with rounded nozzle and the ring handle with incised parallel line, base flat. L: 6” (15.2 cm). Intact, traces of brown slip. The second is from Roman Egypt, c. 1st - 2nd Century AD, the round body wheel thrown with raised disk base, indent disk with large fill-hole, short spout with arrowhead nozzle and wide ring handle. L: 4 ¾” (12.1 cm). Some wear to spout and showing signs of heavy use. Intact, light deposits. Ex Orange County private collection. Value range: $250-$350.
