France, Feudal. Languedoc. Melgueil (bishopric). 12th-13th centuries A.D. AR obole (14 mm, 0.53 g). Imitating Narbonne. Cross formed of fasces / Four annulets in cruciform pattern. Boudeau 754; Poey d'Avant 3844; Duplessy 1578; Roberts 4336. Ver lustrous with light toning and a small patch of green encrustation. Superb extremely fine.
