Ca. 600-300 B.C. AR punchmarked "bent bar" shatamana (39x10 mm, 11.43 g). Two 'septa-radiate' punches (struck with the same punch) / Blank. HGC 12, 763 and 764. Toned. Good very fine.

These "bent bar" coins may have been struck when Gandhara was under Achaemenid rule. Many regard them as the earliest coins made in India.
