Mehama. 5th century A.D. Æ (20 mm, 5.00 g). King seated on throne, with one arm resting on his knee; traces of legends around / Goddess Ardoksho seated, nimbate, with dotted hair, and holding lotus; Brahmi legend Me(hama) to right. J. Cribb & K. Singh, "Two Curious 'Kidarite' Coin Types from 5th Century Kashmir," JONS 230 (Winter 2017), pp. 7-12, fig. 5, coin 1.5 (this coin); Göbl -. A very rare and important coin, showing the strong links between the Alchon Huns and Kidarite Huns. Brown patina with light crazing. Very fine.

Our specimen shows the king seated (Cribb & Singh, type 2). This is the first time the king is shown seated on a throne in the entire Hun series!Â
