Description
Toramana II. Ca. A.D. 530-570. Æ stater (22 mm, 6.83 g). King standing, sacrificing at fire altar, with traces of Brahmi legend Sri Tora(mana) at left along circular margin / Goddess Lakshmi seated facing, holding a long-stemmed lotus, one hand raised in benediction; Brahmi legend Jaya at right. Mitchiner, Non-Islamic 155-8. A lovely example. Brown patina, bold devices. Nearly very fine.
A lovely depiction of Goddess Lakshmi on the reverse. The lotus she is holding has a clear kalasha (sacred vessel) within it! This is especially rare.
