ROMAN EMPIRE. Antoninus Pius. 138-161 AD. Gold Aureus (7.13 gm; 20 mm). Rome mint, 151-152 AD. IMP CAES T AEL HADR ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P. Portrait head, bare, left, all within dotted border / TR P-OT XV C-OS IIII. Pax, draped, standing left, holding branch and sceptre; in the exergue, PAX; dotted border. RIC 216e; BMCRE 748; Mazzini Coll. 587; Calicó 1595 (same dies); RSC 587. Light smoothing on the obverse field. Slight edge marks, otherwise nicely struck in high relief. Broad flan. Choice about Uncirculated (AU). Extremely rare.
