Seleukid Kingdom. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 B.C. AV stater (18 mm, 8.46 g, 12 h). Babylon (I), in the name of Alexander III of Macedon, ca. 311-300 B.C. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a griffin / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟ[Υ], Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; in outer left field, MI; below left wing, monogram in wreath. SC 81.3 corr. (griffin, not sphinx); Price 3749 corr. (same); HGC 9, 3a. Very fine.
