ANTIQUE CHINESE SHOUSHAN STONE STATUE of BUDDA. Ca. 19th century. Antique Asian statue of Buddha made of a natural Chinese Shoushan stone. Shoushan stone carving is an art originated in Fujian Province in eastern China. The stones used in carving are also known as agalmatolite and are mined in the Shoushan village of northern Fujian. This wonderful 19th century antique Chinese Buddha statue is all hand carved, in perfect shape and condition with minor white dots in some parts, measuring 7“ (18 cm) in height, and 3“ (8 cm) in width, weighing 1536 grams.
