Lot 271: ANTIQUITIES. A Pair of Egyptian Old Kingdom Grinding Stones

A pair of Egyptian grinding stones, Old Kingdom, one of basalt with concaved center for grinding any number of things from medicine to cosmetics, the backside rounded and unfinished although the center shows signs of much use. Dia: 4 ¼” (10.8 cm). The other is a flat grinding disk out of a very hard stone. Nice shaped with even thickness and near flat sides. Dia: 4” (10.2 cm). Both with some chipping. Ex Orange County private collection. Value Range: $150 - $250.
