Description
Eastern Europe, Imitating Thasos. Late 2nd-1st centuries B.C. AR tetradrachm (32 mm, 16.56 g, 12 h). Wreathed head of youthful Dionysos right / ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΘΑΣΙΩΝ, Herakles standing facing, head left, holding grounded club, lion's skin draped over arm; in inner left field, M. Kostial 967 (same obv. die); cf. OTA class II, 4-5 (same obv. die); Lukanc pl. 75, 814 (same obv. die); CCCBM I 220. Excellent metal. Extremely fine.
