Lucania, Velia. Ca. 300 B.C. AR nomos (21 mm, 7.46 g, 9 h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with a griffin; behind neck guard, A / YEΛHTΩ[N], lion prowling right; above, owl standing right, head facing; below, A. Williams 599 (O294/R417); SNG Ashmolean 1232 (same dies); HN Italy 1319. Toned. Nearly extremely fine.
