Anglo-Saxon. Aethelred II. 978-1016. AR penny (21 mm, 1.70 g, 6 h). Crux type. Southwark mint, Struck circa 991-997. Aethelweard, moneyer. +ÆDELRÆD REX ANGLORX, draped bust left, trefoil-tipped scepter before / +ÆDELPERD MO SVDBY, voided short cross, CRVX in angles. SCBI -; North 770; SCBC 1148. Rare. Strike a bit soft on obverse. Very fine.
