Calabria, Taras. Ca. 272-240 B.C. AR nomos (20 mm, 6.46 g, 5 h). Hippoda... and Di..., magistrates. Ephebe on horseback riding right, raising javelin to throw; below, magistrate's name: HIΠΠO[ΔA] / [ΤΑΡΑΣ], Taras or Phalanthos astride dolphin left, holding kantharos and distaff; behind, magistrate's name: ΔI and oinochoe (off flan). Vlasto 904-6; HN Italy 1040. Clear facial details on all subjects, which is rarely the case for Tarentine nomoi. Nice medium toning. Good very fine.
