Description
TABERISTAN, Khurshid (Khorshid); (115-142 AH). AR Hemidrachm (2.04 gm; 23 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Dot next to the wings of crown, Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURASTN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 96. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, and Abbasid’s Saffah and Mansur, Album 52. Always rare with additional dots. Choice EF / AU. Lightly toned.
