Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram (Varhran) IV (388-399 AD). Æ (1.62 gm; 17 mm). Bahram's bust turning right monogram similar to Kidarite royal symbol in front of face, reverse; might be stand alone fire altar with no with attendants-not clear given the conditions, Extremely rare. Kidarites invasion of Persia was destructive and bloody, Bahram was able to slowly but cleverly defeat them and subdue them to a status of vessel state. However the confrontation continued after Bahram IV reign ended. Struck over an earlier Roman coin. Choice VF. Nice original find patina.
