Description
Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy I Soter. As Satrap, 323-305 B.C. Fourrée tetradrachm (26 mm, 15.05 g, 11 h). Memphis (or Alexandria?), ca. 323/2-317/11 B.C. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡ[ΟΥ], Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, rose; below throne, Δ-IO. Cf. Price 3971; cf. Zervos issue 2D. Toned with light deposits, copper core exposed on the high points. Very fine.
