Description
Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX. 1282-1328. AV hyperpyron (23 mm, 3.39 g, 6 h). Constantinople, Struck 1294-1303. Half-length figure of the the Theotokos (Virgin Mary), orans, within city walls with four towers; B.-.B to either side / Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus and Michael kneeling to either side. DOC 438-451; PCPC 128, sigla 145; SB 2396. Very fine.
