Description
India, Satavahana empire. Sri Satakarni. Ca. 1st-2nd century A.D. Æ coin (20 mm, 3.99 g). Lioness standing left facing yupa (sacrificial altar), with Brahmi legend Rajno Siri Sata(kanisa) above / 4-orbed 'Ujjain' symbol. Our specimen has a clear legend, which is quite hard to find. Rare.
This lioness type is far more scarce than the Junnar lion type.
