Description

ANTIQUITIES, An exceptional Chimu creamware bottle from Peru, c. 1100 Ð 1450 AD. This beautifully made vessel is 9-1/4Ó high and features an elaborately decorated stirrup spout. Each side is decorated with a series of birds, most likely pelicans, molded in high relief and highlighted with paint. A nicely detailed monkey adorns the chimney and a pair of shells protrude from the lentoid chamber. Lovely form, good mineral deposits. Just a scratch short of perfect.
