Lot 297: ANTIQUITIES, Moche water dipper

ANTIQUITIES, A lovely early Moche canchero from Peru, ca. 100 Ð 300 AD. This fine ceremonial water dipper is 11-1/2Ó long and the chamber is 7-1/2Ó in diameter. The top is decorated with a six-pointed star design and the underside with a solar symbol. The handle is more typical of the Viru and Salinar styles, which influenced early Moche artisans. In excellent condition, with strong paint and nice mineral deposits.
