ANTIQUITIES, A choice exceptional Maya Òpoison bottleÓ from Guatemala, ca. 400 Ð 800 AD. Although popularly known as poison bottles, as some are found to contain cinnabar (highly toxic mercury sulfide), many were in fact used to store snuff. This nicely polished Tiquisate example is 2-1/2Ó high and depicts a man, with the elongated spout forming his headdress. Good mineral deposits, perfect.
