Description

A large Roman bronze Aes Rude, Central Italy, c. 5th - 4th Century BC, (143.53g. 48x48x23mm) irregular as produced with a dark green-black patina as found. Close to half a Roman pound. Lacking marks of value, the Romans and other peoples, such as the Umbrians, bartered with these irregular lumps of bronze via the use of scales. A large and attractive example!
