An excellent Moche canchero from Peru, c. 200 – 400 AD. This early example of a ceremonial water dipper is 9-1/2” long and has a deep chamber. The lentoid chamber is 6-1/4” in diameter and is beautifully decorated with wave designs, executed in black and cream over the burnished orange slip. Intact, with good mineral deposits. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range: $600 - $800
