Lot 284: ANTIQUITIES. A Large Greek Gnathian-Ware Ceramic Bowl

A large Apulian Gnathian-Ware bowl, Magnia Graecia, 4th Century BC, with a raised foot in two degrees, the body hemispherical with flattened rim. The outer decoration consists of decorative bands above a vine motif opposite two rows of offset pellets, painted handles imitating metal-ware on either side. Repaired. H: 3 5/8” (9.2 cm); Dia: 6 ¼” (15.8 cm). Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value range $650 - $750.
