BYZANTINE EMPIRE: Manuel I Comnenus, AD 1143-1180, Aspron Trachy (4.3g). Obverse: IC XC; Christ bearded and nimbate, wearing tunic and kolobion, seated upon throne with back, holds Gospels in left hand. Dot in each limb of nimbus cross. Reverse: MANUHA DEC; full length figure of emperor, bearded wearing stemma, collar piece, jeweled loros of simplified type and sagion, holding cross-tipped scepter in right hand and cross on globe in left.
