Description
KINGS of PARTHIA. Phraates IV (38-2 BC). AR Tetradrachm (10.90 gm; 26 mm). Mint = Seleucia on the Tigris. Year date off the flan, but either 288 SE or 289 SE, month = Gorpiaios (Sep/Oct 24 BC or Sep/Oct 23 BC). Diademed bust left, wart on forehead / Phraates seated right, receiving wreath from Athena standing left, holding scepter. Sunrise 391var; Sellwood 52.var; Shore 274; Callatay 337. Lovely strike on a nice flan. Choice EF. Nice original find patina. Rare this nice.
