SASANIAN KINGS. Shahpur II. AD. 309-379. Silver Drachm (2.90 gm; 28 mm). Mint I (“Ctesiphon”). Phase 1a, circa AD. 240-244. Shapur’s bust turning right with standard crown, reverse, fire altar with attendants, Caduceus to the right of flame, Faravahar to the left of flame. SNS type Ib/1a, style A (pl. 20, A2); Gobl type IV/1; Paruck 97; Saeedi 77-8; Sunrise 828. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Superb style. Choice EF. Nice original find patina. Very rare.
