KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.15 gm; 27 mm). Amphipolis mint. Struck circa 315-294 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; Λ and torch in left field, dolphin below throne. Price 485. Lovely strike on a nice broad flan. Fine style. Choice Superb EF. Nice old cabinet toning. Ex. Jonathan Kern Collection.
